Q: What inspired you to join the Validation Cloud team and how do you see your role contributing to the mission of the company?
A: I think that Web3 is (at the very least) not going away and (optimistically) one of the next big technology waves. In order to support a diverse and vibrant ecosystem, companies like Validation Cloud are needed to lay the infrastructure foundation. I found the team to be intelligent, thoughtful, and pragmatic in their approach to building the Web3 platform.
Q: What is your role at Validation Cloud, and could you share some details about your previous experience and background?
A: I am a backend software engineer, with traditional experience in distributed systems and API design. I gained valuable experience during my time at tech companies like Uber Freight and Vibe Bio. In a previous role, I dabbled in some smart contract design related to decentralized autonomous organizations and on-chain governance. Fun fact, before I was in tech, I was a research scientist, with a Ph.D. in materials science. My research centered around solid oxide fuel cells and various other ceramic materials related to renewable energy.
Q: What are your thoughts on the potential impact of Web3 technology, and how do you think Validation Cloud can help organizations tap into its potential?
A: I think the potential impacts of Web3 technology are huge, ranging from mundane things like decentralized ledgers, to new disruptions that haven’t even been thought of. I think Validation Cloud, by supporting a breadth of Web3 technologies to institutional customers, can help bootstrap big ideas that are otherwise missing the base platform layer on which to build upon.
Q: What do you think sets Validation Cloud apart from other Web3 infrastructure companies?
A: I think Validation Cloud’s mission-driven approach contributes to the growth and adoption of Web3 technologies. Their commitment to advancing the decentralized web shapes their products and services to align with the needs of the Web3 community. After being here for only a few weeks, I have come to recognize the exceptional talent that Validation Cloud attracts in the Web3 space, fostering an environment of collaboration that encourages the exchange of ideas and the creation of groundbreaking solutions.
Q: Which team values resonate with you the most, and why?
A: Commitment to Excellence and Integrity. Always do the right thing, and if you’re going to do something, do it really well. I view software as a craft, and strive to produce the cleanest, most organized, and most maintainable code that I can.
Q: How do you plan on collaborating with other team members to deliver highly performant and customizable products in staking, node, and data-as-a-service?
A: Take advantage of off-sites for in-person brainstorming and whiteboarding. The power of a marker in hand on a large board is not to be underestimated. Product-wise, talk with as many stakeholders as possible to make sure we are solving the right problems to add maximum value.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work? Any hobbies or interests outside of Web3?
A: I enjoy traveling, family, cooking, biking, and the great outdoors.
