##### Overview

Since the previous [announcement](https://blog.validationcloud.io/openlayer) of our participation in [announcement](http://openlayer.tech) operator set, there have been more exciting developments to their technical architecture. OpenLayer is [now live on EigenLayer mainnet](https://medium.com/@openlayer/openlayer-is-now-live-on-eigenlayer-mainnet-a-new-chapter-begins-e0fd2111749a), providing a robust, flexible, and modular platform to manage and deploy real-world data on-chain. Built on EigenLayer, the protocol’s core philosophy includes:

- **Transparency:** OpenLayer ensures every step in the data lifecycle is transparent and easily understood by users, promoting trust and accountability. It is decentralized with minimal entry barriers.
- **Modularity:** The platform's architecture is designed with modularity in mind, allowing users to customize and interchange components to meet specific verification needs.
- **Scalability:** OpenLayer is built to scale efficiently, accommodating varying data loads from small to enterprise-level requirements. Any data can be added or consumed by anyone, without a centralized regulation source.

##### How OpenOracle Works

OpenOracle is a pivotal component within OpenLayer, designed to handle the complexities of integrating various data sources and managing data flows. Key features include:

- **Integration:** Seamlessly integrates with multiple data sources, ensuring smooth data ingestion and processing.
- **Real-time Processing:** Supports real-time data processing, enabling timely insights and actions.
- **Adaptability:** Capable of adapting to different data types and structures, providing a versatile solution for diverse data environments.

##### Modular Data Sources

The [Modular Design of Data Sources](https://openlayer.gitbook.io/openlayer/introduction/our-approach/modular-design/modular-data-source) in OpenLayer emphasizes flexibility and reusability. Key aspects include:

- **Plug-and-Play:** Data sources can be easily plugged into the system or swapped out as needed.
- **Extensibility**: Users can extend existing modules or create new ones to fit specific requirements.
- **Isolation:** Each data source module operates independently, ensuring that changes or issues in one module do not affect others.

##### Data Types in OpenOracle

Data Types Managed by OpenOracle are diverse, ensuring comprehensive data handling capabilities. They include:

- **Structured Data:** Traditional tabular data, often from databases and spreadsheets.
- **Unstructured Data:** Includes text, images, and other formats that do not fit neatly into tables.
- **Semi-Structured Data:** Data that does not conform to a rigid structure but still includes tags or markers to separate elements (e.g., JSON, XML).
- **Time-Series Data:** Sequential data points typically used in forecasting and trend analysis.

##### What’s Next

Keep an eye out for OpenLayer’s Multi Token Staking, and Zero Bridging Solutions. The bridging solutions aim to plug into data availability solutions (e.g. [Avail](https://www.availproject.org/) and [Nexus](https://www.availproject.org/nexus)) to bring data to other rollups and shared sequencer solutions (e.g. NodeKit). Interoperability into other ecosystems is a positive development for any protocol built on Ethereum.

##### Validation Cloud x OpenLayer

Validation Cloud is proud to be a node operator supporting OpenOracle. Check out Validation Cloud’s EigenLayer operator page [here](https://holesky.eigenlayer.xyz/operator/0xa33bb755aaaaf106cdf2cb317ba893dfffb298bf). You can also start staking native Ethereum with our non-custodial SOC 2 compliant staking platform [here](http://app.validationcloud.io).
